Re: Rickenbacker 325v59 help please
the story is im in australia and this guitar is in london so its a sight unseen type thing.
im going to liverpool and london on a beatle type holiday and i just happened to stumble across this guitar and i know for a fact now that ric have stopped their lefty production (for god knows how long) so this might be my best chance for a long time (if ever).
ive also noticed on the name plate there is no number like ive seen on other rics is this normal?
ive been playing guitar for years but like i said this is my first rickenbacker so im new at all this and i want to make sure im getting the right stuff.
thanks everyone for yr help

Yes, not all Rickenbackers have the model number on the truss rod cover.BeatleJohn wrote:... ive also noticed on the name plate there is no number like ive seen on other rics is this normal? ...
As far as "Made In U.S.A.", that was standard on TRCs back when, as well as on current era reissues.

Heck no, just the opposite. If you're a Lennon fan, someone saved you some money in doing the cosmetic conversion for you! There are couple guys around here from Australia, no idea if there's any proximity between them and the shop, but you might check to see if someone could check the guitar out for you.BeatleJohn wrote:are u guys saying this guitar should probably be avoided
Good luck...

thanks everyone for yr help ive heard from the shop today and they said if its not EXACTLY as they described they'll give me 100% refund so i cant get any better than that and i feel alot better now.
cant wait to be part of the rickenbacker gang this is a dream guitar for me and after finding out today that ric has put left handed production on hold for god knows how long, this just makes it even sweeter chances like this dont come round very often (not for leftys anyway)

Re: Rickenbacker 325v59 help please
325v59s had 'Made in the USA' on the nameplate, that's something that was altered on the c58.
This guitar has a non-original pickguard, bridge, nameplate, knobs, and tuners. The headstock looks to me like it's been reshaped to look like a c58. Someone has definitely tried to rust or discolor the middle pickup to look like Lennon's.
Not to freak you out, David...these just make it look more like Lennon's actual guitar! I'd buy it...someone spent alot of money putting those mods on, and left-handed 325s are exceedingly rare.
...But original, it ain't.

You will not see any lefty short-scales anytime soon from RIC, IMO.

My apologies David, I meant the PARTS aren't original!
It's a real Rickenbacker for sure...would anyone build a left handed faker?!

Re: Rickenbacker 325v59 help please
Cosmetically, no, I would leave it--very Lennon-esque. The more important question might be whether the previous owner did the Lennon mod to the wiring harness, which (I believe) essentially shuts off the middle pickup. I personally like the middle pickup on my 325s, so were it mine, I'd undo such a change. But I'm guessing more than likely you're just looking at a cosmetic alteration here.
