There is nothing that can be made, that some man cannot make cheaper. Those who choose their possessions by their price, soon are led to realize the folly of their ways.
Re: 360/6 as a beginners guitar
You will never have regrets when buying quality. If a 360 is what inspires you to play, and you have the dough, by all means get one. Nothing is sweeter than opening the case to pull out your instrument and having it put that big old grin on your face, and a song in your heart. Worst case scenario is you sell it on Ebay for at least what you paid for it if somehow(not likely)it's not the guitar for you.
I envy you, I had to learn on a POS acoustic from a now closed outfit called Gemco(kinda like a pre club membership warehouse that went under in the early 80s)for one year as that was somehow some secret unwritten law that you had to serve a year in acoustic purgatory before the folks would let you have an electric. I was into the Ramones/Sex Pistols/Jam /Who punk meets mod kind of thing, and this guitar SUCKED!!
Absolutely the worst year of my musical life, and I'm sure an experience shared by many of you.

Thanks!
My goodness, I'm exhausted after tonight's rehearsal...

Gemco, yes, I remember that place. Hope this photo comes through, me at age 20 with a $29.95 guitar I bought at Gemco in 1968...wow, can it be 40 years ago? This was my second POS guitar, the first being a $10 guitar that some friend bought back from Mexico. I think I was home on leave from 'Nam at the time. Back in those days money was tight, especially with gas at 25 cents a gallon...
I think the neck snapped off after about three months and I finally got a Strat.
Go for the Rickenbacker 360/6. I was dreaming of a 360/12 even back in 1968!!!

If you ever want a cheap acoustic that really plays amazingly, check out Zager. They guarantee satisfaction, and cover shipping both ways if you're not happy. That's why I bought mine, and I love it. To me it sounds and plays every bit as good as the Taylors I've owned in the past.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I have decided to go ahead with the purchase as lifes too short to procrastinate. I'm sure I will enjoy learning a new instrument though bass is where my heart and passion lies.

Cool! Congrats.
It's rather like buying a cheap tool or a cheap guitar amp. After using the thing for awhile, the item either breaks, or the user realizes the inadequacy of the cheaper product, and ends up buying the quality item one initially forsook purchasing, thereby spending more money than one would have if the quality product had been purchased in the first place.

Here's a couple of photos of my "Rock God in Training" with the new guitar. Noah appears more comfortable with the bass but time will tell!
Re: 360/6 as a beginners guitar
Lovely photos mate, good luck and congrats with young Noah and those beautiful Rickenbackers!
Cheers,
