Used 330 Prices

Post by criscamino »

Hi :D

Have just found a gorgeous jetglo 330 and want to make it my first Ric (Byrds and Jam lover - can't quite justify a 12-string). I was wondering if you had any thoughts on a decent price as I'm new to this buying high-end guitars lark? It's from 2007 and has a slight scratch on the lower bass bout but nothing too serious. They're asking $1450 - is this reasonable? How low should I start negotiating without making them think I'm taking the mick? I have a week to decide, as the 15th is the only day I can get to this place before December. Any help would be appreciated

Cheers 8)

If you call around, I'm sure you could find a new one for that price.

My problem is that I'm traveling around the US at the moment and don't want the hastle of dragging it around with me from bus to hostel, or to spend too long playing guitars (which will happen if I allow it to) and missing everything else. I'm finishing up in San Diego and this guitar is there - it sounds great and I'm more than happy with its used condition, and I'm sure I can knock them down a bit armed with what you've said. Then I'm off home to England and they seem to be more expensive and harder to find, so this is probably my best opportunity.

That's not too bad a price...shopping around will possibly save you $200-300, but if you gotta have it...

Welcome, Christopher! :D

I saw a brand new JG 330 at Action Guitars in Arlington, Va. (near Washington D.C.) selling for that same price. :!:

If your travels are taking you through Los Angeles, there is a 2007 330-6 in Jetglo near me in the friendly confines of South Pasadena... seemingly without any scratches.

Asking price: $1350

Welcome, Christopher!

I'd say, try to get them to knock off at least $100. Often a sure sale will provide an incentive to deal.

Offer them $1300. If they accept it, great. If not, they might counter-offer $1350. If you offer $1350, they might counter $1400. I think offering lower than what you're willing to spend works best.

Not a mark on the 330/6 JG. It's gone, brah. Sold it today. Originally scored it for my brah as a b'day gift but he decided to go with a G&L ASAT Special. Oh, well ~~ oh, well. Buyer made the trek up to my neck of the woods all the way from Rancho Santa Margarita in O.C. Hey, what can I say? Cool seller, cool buyer. (He~he) I let him plug in and play for 30 minutes at a local shop. Transaction was seamless. Peace, out.....Goofyfoot.
Play on, pick often, jam with any Rickenbacker, and prosper.

Was thinking of buying my uncles 330 6 FG ,i think its 2004/5
But its a bad time for me right now, a lot of bills coming in,
he only wants £700, its in mint unplayed condition, sticker still on the guard, and all the case candy.

I'm trying to work something out with him, so we'll see how it goes.
I believe he has two other guitars on order and the 330 has to go to pay for them.

If only it was that easy Scott :)

He actually has it in the local shop as a down payment on the two other guitars he has just ordered.
The shop want 750 .
He's happy for them to take the 330 as a swap for his new guitars!
But if i can come up with the cash he'll give it to me,if not ,when i get the dosh together, i'll just have to buy it from the shop and try and haggle them down a bit!
