Its good ol' Rickenbacker "Mapleglo"! Although I must say that the fingerboard finish doesn't seem to be as thick and glossy as other Rick guitar series. Let me take a look and I'll get back to you...

... no it doesn't seem any different from the finish on other Rickenbacker fingerboards.

Steve's 650C VH is one hell of a guitar. I hope that the VH option (or something like it) eventually comes back to the line-up ...
I'm still very curious about the "upgraded models" that were mooted to replace the 650S and 650D. Perhaps they'll have a similar option.

It really is John, (and you should know!). There's such a different vibe to the 650 as compared to 300 or 600 series guitars. With the wider neck facilitating string bending, humbuckers and trem unit, its really terrific for lead playing.
