Jeff . I did mention you in the post because I thought you had enough research and knowledge and..........you do not sugar coat how RIC parts work . Im working with a 4004Cii 4-2-5 so I went to the source but also wanted other forum members input . I am always amazed at how much info is happily shared on this site and thank everyone for their participation .
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !

Was this topic the reason Dale was banned at the RIC forum? If it is that really sucks!

No. Dale was wondering why Paul was using plywood to fix the back of Graham's 360F, as he had owned two F's in the past that had maple backs. JH said no, always plywood, Dale didn't agree, etc.

I don't recall Dale uttering a single word on the CII/5 subject. With the exception of the truss rods he replaced in mine. I may be wrong though.

That's what he said here:

I noticed that the Arrogant Ignorance thread disappeared after some off color remarks by Dale.

I think it's a combination of people taking themselves too seriously and the fact that tone of voice cannot be conveyed via an internet forum. Let's unplug our stupid computers and plug in our guitars.

People get really testy when I mention how the laws of physics apply to the 4004cii5. Magnetic fields work the same with that bass and pickups as any other. The farther a string is from the magnetic field the less the pickup picks it up! This is not a phasing problem, but rather a problem of geometry.

But this is why I started converting 4 string Rics into 5 string Rics. The 4003s5 was too tight, and the 4004cii5 was too wide. for me the 4-2-5 is just right.

Joey, I believe that had nothing to do with what Dale wrote, but to do with the subject matter, the unwillingness of the original poster to listen to what John Hall posted, and with Peter doing the right thing and locking the one thread and removing the AI thread because of the negative comments all around.

Good question.

Also when I say Rickenbacker made a mistake on one of their instruments it is not a personal attack on John Hall or on any 4004cii5 owner ... it is a simple statement of fact ... nothing more ... it is said with out any animosity ...

I'm thinking the dead horse picture needs to go up again. The original question was what pickups were in the 4004 cii/5. I answered it.
