Take the cap out and never look back. That #*(^ing thing ruined my tone for 20 years.

haha, yeh it seems morr trouble than it's worth. technique, haha, i dont have any, i just what i do because i enjoy it, im not the best, im not the worst ive learnt to live with that, i will always try to get better, but im happy where i am. on the guitar however im just s**t

The Jag was my main player until 2 weeks ago. Awesome bass and great feel.
I'm tossing up whether to sell it or keep it for when I need that generic Jazz sound.
I've also got a pre EB MusicMan Sabre tucked away which to my ears is the exact opposite in tone to the 4001. Sounds like a stingray with huge cojones- massive bottom end and really articulate top. Best slap bass in the known universe IMO.

now thats prettty =]].
for a genraly different sound i use a custom Ibanez Blaster, think Phill Lynott near the end of thin lizzy, its a p bass with a bit more growl, i just love the feel and sounds it gives, simple yet effective. however the rick still wins every time.
