Wise guys on Craigslist

Post by timelineguitars »

If there are deals which look too good to be true on Craigslist, they are "too good to be true". I received the same reply from the same guy for two "great deals" on Craigslist in two different month.

"...Hi,

Thank you for your email. I still have it for sale. Right now i am gone on my honeymoon in Hawaii but i hope that`s not going to be a problem because i can still handle the transaction. When i left in my honeymoon, i left the item along with several other items in the custody of The Online Outpost because i wanted to sell them on eBay when i return, but something came up back home, something wrong with my mom and i decided to sell this one before i get back but not on ebay because i need to sell it faster. So if you are still interested let me know because i can make the transaction immediately. Just let me know and i will explain
all the details of the transaction...

Thanks!.... "

This guy surely has a long honeymoon...and he loves Hawaii a lot....

Hello

Thank you for your interest in my guitar. The price i am hoping to sell it is $2900 US. The shipping taxes are included in this price (that means i will pay all shipping taxes, as seller)

Regarding the item i have for sale you have to know that this is 100% original, not a re-issued guitar. I was amazed on how this guitar played and sounded. It come with the original hardshell case . The shape of this guitar is incredible the checking is very light and minimal. The pots are clean and pickup switch works like it was a new guitar. I have never heard pickups like this they sound amazing and are very hot. The fret wear is very minimal for it still being the original frets. There is some wear on the fret board in the 2nd and 4th fret. The neck is good and straight and the tuners work very nice and hold pretty good.

You have to know that i am not a musician, and i dont know many things about musical instruments. The guitar belongs to my brother. He died two weeks ago in a bike accident. The guitar is now in British Columbia, Canada as my brother lived there. I am now here as i
took care of the funerals. Because i have no use for this i am selling it.

I wait your further questions and i will provide any infos you need.

Thank you
Regards.

Hello,

I have received your email regarding my 1961 stratocaster electric guitar. The guitar is in perfect condition, with no scratches on it,no damage. The price for the guitar is $3500 USD. The guitar was my husband`s as he loved it very much, but he did not enjoy it as he died in a IRAQ 4 month ago. It brings very bad memories to me, I want to get rid of it. The buyer will receive the guitar in original case. Also The money will be for a good cause because i will give them to a war victims foundation. Shipping will take no more then 4-5 days. I will manage the shipping price and I assumed that it is my duty to pay for shipping it.

It will be delivered directly to your address.During this time you can also check the shipping route to find out where the item is located and how many time will pass until the transport will arrive Anyway, I have to let you know that I want a fast deal so if you are really interested in buying it, please reply with the following information's:

-Your full name;
-Full Address

The transaction will close only through a purchase protection program so we both will be protected. I will look for your email,so that we can move forward with this deal! Let me know

All these wise guys and gals seem to like Fenders and Gibsons a lot. I have not found any of them selling Rickenbackers yet, That's very sad!. :(

All of the wise guys seem to be victims of proper English language usage. It's interesting that they're prepositionally and adjectivally challenged. Incorrect pluralization is another tripping-up point.

Conclusion: Somebody in an internet café in Bangkok or Jakarta is looking for more victims.

(BTW, has anyone heard Alex Chilton sing his composition, "Bangkok"? It's a HOOT.

I don't think these two scammers are from Bankok nor Jakarta. Actually, I heard the headquaters of these international scammers is located in London, England according to CBS 60 minutes News report.

I'm amazed 'on' how much of the bad English I encounter is the work of people who speak it as their first (and only) language.

Aside from that...call me cynical, but the war widows and orphans that I know are not busily trying to make 'fast deals' selling their dead husband's/father's guitars in order to donate the proceeds to a 'war victims foundation', whatever that might be...they're more interested in making another mortgage payment before they get foreclosed on...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Sure have.

Alex Chilton and Big Star were huge influences on an old band I was in. We used to perform September Gurls way before the Bangles recorded it, and also performed Oh My Soul once..That was a tough one to do.

Also met him a couple of times. Not the greatest moments....ha ha
