Actually, IMHO, the version of Mission on the new live disc is my favorite version of the song.
Alex's heavier guitar tone makes it for me.

Neil wanted to slow things down a bit to allow the songs to "breathe."

RUSH Snakes and Arrows tour is coming to Detroit, TONIGHT! I did not have tickets for the show, I was sad...until....the guitar player in my old band called me last night and told me he had an extra ticket, in a suite, for tonight's show, and would I like to go?

Ummmmmmmm...yes!

So I will be catching them live at the Joe Louis Arena tonight!! Report to follow...

Great show at the Joe tonight...they changed up the set list from the live CD quite a bit, unfortunately dropping Entre Nous (which means I still have never heard it played live) & Circumstances.

Openers were Limelight and Digital Man, then Mission, then a lot of what is on the disc, MINUS Circimstances, the set ender for set 1 was Dreamline. They opened set 2 with FIVE (5) songs from Snakes and Arrows, then pretty much else what is on the track list at the beginning of the thread. I sure would have liked to be able to hear the talking in the movies they played where Ged was a Scot, those LOOKED hilarious, but I missed a lot of what was said.

All in all, worth every penny. And more, since it was FREE. :)
Ged did whip out the Rick for Passage to Bangkok, wondered why he just didn't leave it on for YYZ (the last song) instead of running over to make a change.

YYZ was never played on the Rick, it was the jazz back in the day.

I just wish that Geddy would just use his Rickenbacker 4001 for all of the tracks that he used it on origionally.
At least we would get to see it for more than one song.

I know it was the Jazz on the recording, but he has played it on the Rick many, many, many, many times over the years. (see Exit Stage Left for one example) Just wondering why change for one more song, since Bangkok was the next-to-last song and YYZ was the finale.

ESL is still probably the jazz. It's not shown on the video and on the album is sounds slightly different. Plus there's this pic.

I just saw Rush last night at Red Rocks. They played the same set list. They were good but Alex's guitar was a little too loud. I wanted to hear more bass. And Geddy got out the Ric for one song.

Still no Hemispheres. Haven't heard that one in a long while. Good to hear the Natural Science jam, though.

I read that half of Geddy's cabinets are under the stage so he can feel 'em.

Watching Geddy play that J-bass, I kept thinking he'd just broken a string on his Ric.

I saw RUSH out at the Jones Beach Theater in New York on July 15th - awesome show! Very pleased to hear a lot of my fav tunes in their set. And to confirm what some have already observed here on The Forum, Geddy did whip out the Rick on 'Passage To Bangkok.'
