RIC in Germany

Post by Hawkeye »

I'm looking for a Rickenbacker dealer in Germany. I really like the sound of the 330s but never having played one it would be great to know a dealer who has one in stock. I don't like buying such a guitar without being able to lay my hands on it first.
Does anybody know a local store in the southwest of Germany or can tell me how to find one ?

Well ,thank both of you. I might be in Frankfurt next month, so I'm going to try to find the store you're talking about. And of course I'll contact Peerpro as well, there might be some 330s near my hometown too, who knows...

Currently there are no Ricks in the shop of the "center" of Franfurt (Cream Music). If you're lucky you might find one at "Musikhaus Bornheim" (probably heavily overpriced) or ar "Musik Schmidt" (also big online store), but both not in "the center".

Yes, I thought about paying a visit to Musik Schmidt. I've known the online store for a long time but when I was trying to find out which store grazioso was talking about I saw some photos of their guitar outlet and it's just huge. I don't care if they have any Ricks, I'd still like to spend a day or two there :D

I'm getting the impression Ricks are heavily over priced all over Germany. The only online offers I saw were around 1500€ (about $2300). I'm sure the guitar is worth every cent but right now I'm thinking about buying one at Dolphin Music in the UK who sell it for 1260€ or so, including shipping.

G'day and welcome, Andreas,

Wow, Scotty found some great prices! You'd struggle to pick up a top-quality used 330 from a US dealer for less than that after paying for transatlantic shipping (dealer market seems to be $1200-$1500 for a used 330). The only way to get a cheaper 330 would be top take a risk on ebay ($1000-$1300).

Thanks to all of you! I don't think I'll ever buy a guitar or any instrument at eBay, that's just to risky for me. I'll either go for Dolphin or Peter Cook's. But first of all I'm going to contact the German distributor, I still want to touch one of those beauties before buying (a different) one (at a different store) :D

Hi Andreas,
I got my first Rick from Thomann (http://www.thomann.de/de/index.html) in 2005. They don't seem to have got any new stock in since 2006. The other store I know of which currently has Rickenbacksers in stock is Musik Produktiv (http://www.musik-produktiv.de/gitarre-b ... acker.aspx).
Good luck! You may need quite a lot. I gave up on getting the guitar I want from a German store and got latest Rick from Ireland.

I just received an email from the German distributor: There's not a single 6-string 330 for sale in the entire country !!! Now I'll either have to pay a short visit to the UK/US some time or ask a guy I know who has some Rickenbacker guitar (though I'm not sure which model) if I can try out his.

Again, thanks to all of you.

Andreas: There are about three dozen 330/360 models in the Register from Germany. Why not post a topic about wanting to try out some of these models and see who might be able to help you near where you live. :)
