Good examples!

I meant to include Steve's Seagreens, but forgot.

And I didn't know about the others.

We're some crazy people aren't we?!

I don't know what I'd call my collection. Mine is sort of a "try to have diversity in basses that feel and play more or less the same" collection. And I've got a thang for them S basses.

I have Rick basses with:

frets
no frets
round wounds
flat wounds
4 strings
5 strings
8 strings
humbuckers
hi-gains
horseshoe/toaster
solid body
hollow body
deluxe
S

Yes. I'm goofy!

I originally posted this in the Beatles forum some time ago.

I was looking through some old Beatles Monthlies and came across this bit of information in issue No. 69 dated April 1969.

From the Beatle News pages:

"Paint Removed

Here's a sure sign that the psychedelic "Sergeant Pepper" era is well and truly ended.
Paul recently took his Rickenbacker bass to an elderly craftsman in a Soho back-street
to have a two-year-old coat of psychedelic painting removed.

Paul chatted to the old man throughout the hour it took to strip the bright colours and smoothe
the guitar's woodwork to a plain, unpainted surface."

OK, I got a line on another C64 MG near the top of the pecking order. So now I have 2 on order. Geek...I'm a geek.

I had heard that it was done by a man in Soho with Paul being present. The bass still had it's horns intact. Here is a picture I have with the bass refinished and the horns still intact.
Cool. I knew there was an in-between phase where the horns weren't rounded, but I didn't know whether the bass was glossy or stripped. I always assumed it was stripped.

What if Paul's bass was stripped in that photo? Would you strip your new C64 to match?

:?

Any who, congrats on your order of a sweet bass!

Good to hear from you. How are you liking Pedro Feliz at third for the fightin' phils? Congrats on the 4004CII. Which finish did you get? When you get a moment post a picture or 2.

I still have an extra 4003 75th anniversary bass if you're interested. :) Just messing with you. I hope all is well in Philly and in the FD.
