I don't know if Paul took the shoes off or if they were removed when the bass was redone by Rickenbacker because the horsehoe PUP was dead. Someone here will know, though.

In the pic of the 4001S in "Beatles' Gear", the horseshoe has been replaced, but the cover is placed on the new hi-gain.

I don't know who his guitar player is there, but man, if I were ever Paul's guitar player, I'd choose an all-black Super-Strat with a Floyd Rose too.

The Jet video is awesome, sounds just like the album. In my book that's a good thing. Can't believe the guitarist is using a Jackson though.

Sounds pretty good. Especially for the eighties. The drums don't sound like total **** and it isn't drenched in synthesizer. The Jackson (or whatever it is) certainly would not be my first choice, but it doesn't really sound too bad to my ears. Also I wonder how much of this is prerecorded. They seem to be getting a full brass section sound out of one sax and a grand piano sound out of an electric piano in the Jet video.

Yeah, Paul barely seems to be playing in some parts. Hard to get that driving Jet fuzz bass going when your picking hand ain't even near the guitar. Nevertheless, it's still cool. Word up to avoiding the 'verbed out 80's snare plague.

Ugh... I can't believe I'm going to say Paul looks so young there... but Paul looks so young there! Well, I suppose 1987 was 21 years ago at this point. I remember I thought at the time Paul was really starting to look older. 1987 was 21 years after 1966, after all. My, my. Nice to see him with the ol' trusty Rickenbacker, though. Wish he'd bring that out more often these days.

When's the last time Paul was spotted playing his 4001s, anyway?

An unfortunate sign of the time period. I barely made it through the '80's without puking on the style of guitars people were using then.

Th original HS was replaced during the WOA tour in 1976, because the original cobalt magnets were dead and would not hold a charge. RIC replaced it with a overwound hi-gain. These days, it has a reissue HS in the bridge position. It's kinda doubtful you'll ever see it live again, because Macca, I've heard, has back issues. The Hofner, being a hollowbody bass, is easier to handle. I do believe he still plays the Ric some in the studio though.

Newly recorded perhaps, but not played live... check out around 58-59 seconds. the bass kicks in, Pauls hand is in the air! hahaha

It's doubtful now that he lists all the instruments he played on each track. The last mention of a Rickenbacker on an album was on Driving Rain when JH brought him a C64. From what I remember, it sounded about the same as his Hofner did on the album.

It wouldn't bother me if he had to sit in a chair to play his Rick live!! He needs to play it out one last time!!
