i would highly recommend this film i enjoyed it immensely.Samantha Morton gives an intelligent, sympathetic performance as Curtis's wife, Debbie whom he ( Curtis)married when they were both in their teens.Sam Riley gives a superb performance as Ian Curtis, intuitively recreating his on-stage mannerisms, from the stock-still hunch over the mic, with eyelids lowered, to the crazy, elbows akimbo running on the spot routine.Brilliant top marks from me.

Got it about a week ago.
One cool thing: The actors actually played the music.
One flaw: "Hooky" plays a Rickenbacker bass in several scenes.

Given the content, you might want to rephrase that one John....sloop_john_b wrote:Dying to see it.

Corbun (director) was interviewed by Terry Gross on Frrresh Air on Monday. One of the best interviews of recent days...I like the black and white. It's hard to think of them in color.
There's a Morris Traveller Woodie in two scenes!!!

There're two Joy Division movies out - the Anton Corbijn biopic called "Control" and the new documentary on the band by Grant Gee called "Joy Division."

Two thumbs up from me. I thought it was brilliant. Very cool that they actually played the songs.

I believe it was either a Hondo or an Ibanez.octagon wrote:Didn't he play a Rickenbacker?iamthebassman wrote:Got it about a week ago.

The actor playing Ian Curtis didn't pay a real Phantom XII either, but it was a good enough copy to fool most everyone. The only reason I noticed that it wasn't the real thing was because there was a closeup shot of the headstock in one scene.
