Post by fireglo67 »

They've even added some sound samples..........

Not the worst copy I've ever seen though.

Even at $1 it's not worth it. Though I'd probably have that over a Fender strat...... :)

Looks more like a 360WB copy than a 330 copy (bindings, triangular inlays...)
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I can't in good conscience (or sense) buy a faker, but this one is pretty nice and accurate compared to the usual junk. You can't even get full binding on a new Rickenbacker! (JOKE).

And yet I still continue to be amazed that Greco could make copies of LPs, SGs, 335s, etc., that are the envy of just about everyone in the guitar playing world, and yet fall so short on their Ric copies.

Must be that something special Rics have within!!!

There are different levels of Greco guitars and basses. They made some cheaper Strats and LPs (though probably still better than the real US thing at the time) and some absolute top-notch copies. I wouldn't be surprised if the same applied to their Ric copies. The big difference is that Ric quality was light years ahead of the volume US makers in the '70s, and thus healthily ahead of the Japanese copy industry when it was at its peak.

Taken in isolation (ie never having seen a real Ric) those Greco-backers are usually decent guitars. Put one next to the real thing and the differences will become apparent.
