Cheyennes, Laredos, & Blueburst . . . What's the story?

Post by bassduke49 »

I've been away for two weeks on an Alaska cruise/tour (magnificent, BTW), and was expecting to have a message from my dealer when I got home that my long-awaited Blueburst Cheyenne was in. But no.

So what have I missed? It was hoped that RIC would "complete" outstanding Blueburst orders and do a big batch of Cheyennes (and Laredos?) in "mid May," but that's come and gone. If the "shipped" info on RIC's website is any indication, it appears that only three dealers were recently shipped Cheyennes, and only a handful at that. Then I thought I saw a message from someone at the factory about another big batch in the fall? Ben? Eric? Could you please explain where we are on this?

The "late fall" prediction was the latest developement I've read Paul. I can definately understand your angst. I wish I had better news for you. :(

I believe Eric did mention a big run of 4004's in the fall. I feel for you Paul, but hopefully you'll be seeing your 4004Cii BBR in a few months. My 4004cii BBR did get shipped but it was ordered in January 2005 just after Blueburst was announced at the 2005 NAMM show. When was yours ordered Paul? If it was later in 2005, the only thing that I can think of is that RIC's production model is nimble enough that they can quickly switch production between various models. Perhaps they filled the orders for 4004cii's ordered early in 2005 (like mine), with others to follow in the fall. Regardless, take my word - it will be worth the wait!

Yeah, December '05. So maybe they're fulfilling orders in order. I ain't hurtin, of course, but it seems that the closer it comes, the farther away it gets. When I talked with Ben at the SoCalCon last August, he thought they would get all the outstanding BlueBurst orders done by the end of the year. Then it was April. Then May. Now it's this fall. I know they are busy, and I can wait it out.

I, too, had assumed that when Ben said these would be shipping in May he meant more than five. It doesn't make sense to me why only a few would be produced, but I don't run a company making products people have been waiting over three years to receive, either. I was actually quite upset when they stopped shipping, but I've gotten over most of my frustration now. Given the accuracy of the previous predictions, I'm not putting much stock in the fall prediction as an "accurate" date (BBRs were supposed to be finished by 07, then 4004s shipped in April, then mid-May...5 by June...), but I certainly hope they'll be filled by early next year.

Paul:

you just gotta quit ordering Rics ... then there will be less backlog.

Actually, I've ordered only two; this one, and a 4003VP Monte which came in six months (!!!). I've bought only one other brand new one, an Amber Fireglo off the shelf from Wades' in Milwaukee. All others are used Ricks from Forumites or eBay.

It is unfortunate that those of us who have contributed but a small amount to the backlog are the ones most affected by it.

I've been a bad boy, I've ordered at least 9 or 10 since 2005.
Most were less than a 7 month wait, I think 2 were right off the shelf from dealer stock...eihter POTR OR TRP. One even had 6 strings for my son! FOOEY!

Only one more to go.....Thanksgiving huh? So be it. Now, I KNOW Janey is going to snag it for under the Christmas tree, so EVEN if they do come in the fall.....I won't see it until Christmas Day! :(

I never told the Christmas story from this past year. I have to find the picutres. There was a PERFECTLY shaped RIC box burried in the back of the pile of gifts...and being the good wife has done it in the past.....I though, OMG...I got a RIC for Christmas!

The Chris Squire Christmas CD was playing.....I couldn't wait for that darn pile to dwindle down so I could get my RIC....or what I thought was my RIC......to my dismay.....found a freaking exercise machine! :? I wonder what she was trying to tell me?

I've got to find the pictures.....the look on my face is "pricelss" according to the Mrs. EVIL, they can be just so EVIL when they want to be....
