Mateybob, I have to wholeheartedly disagree with you, he should have given them to me!!!

Other than that, I have to agree to just about everything you said to the letter. What a great band,while having many hits, still doesn't get the recognition it deserves. At least we can be thankfull Nickelback or the Ataris won't be doing any covers of them that'll wanna make you hang yourself.

I have to say though, that when they do get mentioned, it is a crime how both Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler always get slagged as "second rate", and Weller gets all the credit. They were a band that consisted of 3 great players who had the right chemistry to create a classic band, not a single guy with 2 hired guns backing him up. I'm glad they got the chance to prove that recently.

I was always dissapointed with the Style Coucil, as I always thought of them as an indulgent side project that broke up a great band. I haven't really heard any of his solo stuff, and when he was on Conan last year, they played a Jam song. I agree that he just doesn't look right without a Rick, and his recent adverts with Epiphone in magazines make me just wanna say "Dude, whats up with that?"

I suppose, I should give the Style Coucil another shot, as I'm older(and hopefully wiser)now, and my tastes have been broadened since then. I tried this the other day with liver, as the Mrs. loves it and ordered some, and I took a bite and it still tasted awful, so who knows. I should get his solo stuff so I can at least have an opinion on it, but quite frankly, I have been afraid of being even more put off by it than the SC material did. I love the Jam, and want to keep it that way, and hearing more stuff I might not like by Paul Weller wasn't a priority in my album/cd purchases.

The first time I went to see solo PW, it was 1992 or `93 during his first solo tour of the U.S. after he broke up the Style Council; he played a LOT of Jam and Style Council songs, whipping out his MG 360 12 for an amazing rendition of "Tales From the Riverbank", which is one of my favorite Jam songs. Obviously, I was thrilled to death when I heard the opening notes of the song being played.

The second time I went to see PW, was within the next year or so at the Pantages theatre in Hollywood; he played all of his solo stuff (`93-94 vintage), and my date and I both dozed off mid-set, if not earlier, and we might have even left the show early...

Mike im not into liver aswell is stinks.I think with the whole Weller thing it comes down to a place in a time,This also covers many other bands and influential people through their careers.With Weller after the demise of the jam (which personally i think was a very clever move in retrospect)a lot of fans naturally were absolutely disgusted that the end of the road had arrived.Now after the jam weller moved on to a different road which after all was his choice to do.(I may add that this post is not directed at mike it has just transpired that Liver came up and this post was born)Meanwhile back at the ranch..I think that music like every other thing in life is purely a matter of right time right place.Im sure someone else right now in the world is writing something about there hero be it metal,grunge or Christian rock.I firmly believe that when someone "clicks" onto a musical genre that affects them in a way that is only PERSONAL they are hooked and the small shift in their ocean becomes a wave that they will surf for a long time.If i may also add i dont think just because you were brought up in a household for example Hard rock that you will be influenced by hard rock,i think that it just happens one day and you have a degree of no control to it.What makes a mod a mod and what makes a rocker a rocker?Who knows why do we take the paths that are laid down before us.I believe its down to a place in time and Music that personally stirs emotion.Just for the recored whist posting this message im listening to one my favorite albums of all time The Cure Disintegration,Why do i love this album? I dont know i just do.. Must have been a place in time..............
Anyway im looking for snow that is not falling Give the Our favorite shop a listen Mike after a couple of listens im sure youll agree that this is a underrated LP. personal favs are the boy who cried wolf and internationalists and of coarse A stones throw away.
