None More Black Question

Post by qwezirider »

So does it qualify as "None More Black" if I swap out all the hardware, pick guard, and knobs of my 4003JG and still have the white binding, or will it only rise to the level of "Not Too Many More Black"? I do have the get my terminology straight here.

It's not none more black unless it comes from the factory that way. even a JG with chrome hardware but factory black pg and trc is none more black.

i have spoken.

But even that JG/WT wouldn't be blacker than a factory JG/BT, right? or maybe a Shadow or Blackstar?

Plus there is the whole idea of replacing all the screws and strings with black, if you wanna get nutty.

Once you go bl... ah, you know the rest! :)

I thought the fretboard was the determining factor - I've got two basses that are black with black trim, and the rosewood/bubinga/whatever they are fretboards really pop out - not in a bad way, but not in a "none more black" way either...

I could be wrong though, and I am more than willing to bow to phlemmy's authority in the matter!

I just consider the Ric none mroe black to be a factory thing. Crisman's 4004 was the blackest of the black, but not none mroe black from the factory. his was the darth vader bass.

but my opinion means nothing to anyone but me.

Well, there it is. Even if I take a Sharpie to the binding and FWI, I still come up short. Phooey.

Pretty Freakin' Black it is.

Hmmmmm.....I kind of like that acronym: PFB

A Shadow is in fact less black than a JG/BT because the binding has white bits. A Blackstar has the black enameled fretboard but also has a chrome handrest (in a black surround), chrome neck pickup surround and chrome strap buttons.
