What is this?

Post by ilan »

From the used items section in Ishibashi (Japan) - "Rickenbacker 4001 TUR" - looks like a modded Turquoise S model:

Is that a v63?
Can an American like myself buy it?

Looks like a turquoise V63 that had an owner that was an idiot. Easy fix though.

I have a '97 v63, and its headstock and TRC are like that one...much longer than the one on my '93 v63. Don't have any idea why the difference...

The Japanese web page, through BabelFish translation, says: "The hole which is thought that the tension bar was installed in the head, opens 2 places. Also finger rest is done back matter" whatever that means - maybe a truss rod problem?

Anyway, here's the link - put "Rickenbacker" in the search box:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ishibashi.co.jp%2Fu-box%2Findex.htm

Marc61 - some people over at the FDP bought from Ishibashi, mostly Fender Japan products.

158,000 Yen = $1,465

Are you saying that this is not a Rickenbacker?

It would make sense because I did see an offer to sell a mapleglo v63 for 218750 yen or about $1900 and changeUS.

Ishibashi is great to deal with. Super polite guys. Really fast service. I ordered a Fender 70´s RI P-bass from them and had it at my door after 5 days.

Marc61 - I think "in the midst of sale" is just the automatic translation from Japanese of "for sale", just as "you teach to the friend" probably means "tell a friend". So I believe it's not sold.

You're probably right or else all the instruments are sold. I just can't figure out how to order. I'd also like to know if it's genuine first.

Somebody outta jump on it, that is not bad price, it looks mint, and both the 4001v63 and Tourquise are discontinued now... This one will jump in price, IMHO.
