The binding is applied to the body wings before they are joined to the neck. That's why there's no binding at the end of the body.

I know. By 'deliberate' I meant that fitting binding to the end of the body would entail a somewhat different manufacturing procedure.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
