Davie Allan and The Arrows King of Fuzz

Post by kenposurf »

Best know for his "Blues Theme", here Davie kicks out the jams to Peter Gunn. King of the fuzztone and a cool guy to boot....

Having picked up the great anthology of Davie Allan's tracks that's available, I think that there is a very distinct difference in the quality of his guitar sound when he switched from his Jazzmaster to the Mosrite. His early tracks are also much more dynamic before Mike Curb and the powers-that-were at Capitol's subsidary Tower forced him into a single sound of over-saturated fuzz. Despite that, he did produce a number of very cool instrumentals that match up well with Link Wray's material.

Davie is indeed an awesome player and the master of fuzz. He still releases records that smoke, and his live shows are really cool as well. He's good friends with one of my best friends back in L.A., and this guy is always singing his praises. Currently,I'm stuck in a cornfield and can't see anything anymore at this time. Rock on Davie.

Same here. I wish that someone would release a book of '60's era garage band material. That or some of the great instros from Allan, Wray, etc.
