Geddy & Rick

Post by bassduke49 »

Saw Rush for the first time last Friday night at Summerfest here in Milwaukee. Had pretty decent seats, 16 rows back, just a bit right of center, so had a good look at the band, the equipment, and the chicken roasters. Massive sound really made it difficult to hear much difference between the different basses Geddy Lee used. I knew he would use the Rick for Passage to Bangkok, so I set the camera up to take ripple shots. This is the best one of the bunch, still a little shakey. These guys are approaching 60 (just like me), but they smoked the place. Goofy videos, great light/laser show, and a huge crowd. So here's the shot:

Jeff - when I told Geddy that I was coming to Wembley (London) to see them, he said "why are you going there! You should go to MSG or Red Rock where the sound is good." Lucky you! How have you been? I've been treking around the US and hardly a chance to relax.

I really wish I could have went to London to see Rush last year. But My dad was dying and I wanted to be with him.

Ya Red Rocks is cool. Me and a friend went down to Red Rocks the night of the concert and got tickets. Red Rocks is cool even if the band isn't good. But with Rush it is even better.

The Ric sounded good that night. Geddy just looks good wearing a Ric.

I have been good. Denver is a great town to live in. Did you move to Texas?

I love your avatar.

I saw them there last week too, the night after I saw Mark Knopfler there! Worst seats in the house and horrible horrible sound:

If you get way in the back the view of Denver is cool but you lose the sound

Thanks for the pic, Paul. Good to see Geddy bringin' the Rick out. He needs to do more of that IMHO!

And continuing the thread drift...I'd really like to get out to Red Rocks sometime and see a show. I've heard so many good things. I won't be able to make it to any of 'em this year though. :(

I like to get up to Alpine Valley too, but these days there seems to only be around 3 tours that come through a year. Dave Mathews/Black Crowes and Jimmy Buffet are all thats left and I'm not interested enough to go. What's up with that? What happened to Alpine Valley? Such a great venue, but the same three acts come through every summer and that's all!

Red rocks looks a lot like The Gorge in WA, on the Columbia River. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gorge_Amphitheatre Best Rush show I ever saw. In the middle of nowhere, scenic, great sound.

Pittsburgh was a really good show, great set list. The Rick looked good, Alex sounded great, and the Moog Little Phatty Rules!

The video shots of Geddy playing were outstanding, for 50+ years old, he still rocks!
