where to source flathead 481 pickup screws?

Gene, these are not flat heads, but rather "truss head" screws. They are available in stainless steel from McMaster-Carr in LA. Bad news is you'll have to buy 100. Good news is that you'll only pay a few bucks. I'm not sure of the length or threading (I seem to remember 4-40 X 3/4 from Melissa's 481 (which had brass round headed ones).

thanks for the reply.

Are we thinking about the same thing?

I'm thinking about these, screws with rivet-like heads - flathead is indeed a misnomer.

the ones I found on mcmaster were philips, slotted or tamper -resistant drilled spanner

just to clarify I'm talking about the two mounting screws
