They should have stuck with us as part of the Empire!
Then it would all be Gordon Browns fault instead and they could become part of the EU and complain to Brussels for financial help.
South Canada Territory sounds good to me!

Happy 4th of July guys!
I will raise a glass of best bitter to you in the pub at lunchtime.

LOL, Pete!

I had a history professor in college that belived that (he was an American). Interesting "alternative history" project thinking that through. If the 13 colonies became the first members of a British "commonwealth", would Canada have become the entity it is now? Plus a lot of things to think about as to just how those 13 colonies would have settled their differences with the Crown...by the battle of Lexington (1775) emotions were running high enough for armed confrontation, by the time the Declaration of Indepence was written (really published) sentiments had risen higher. I kind of recall that class a bit and talking about trying to find the approximate range of dates where things might have been salvageable if the English Crown had taken the view to develop the colonies as independent trading partners rather than revert back to the mercantile ideals that were not working very well in North America. It was probably about the time of the French/Indian War (early 1760's).

Anyway, enough of a history lesson. Happy July 4th folks!

Didnt Richard Dreyfuss or someone write a book based on "what if" there had been no war of independence?

Who knows,in the "what if" Parallel World there might have been a Rickenbacker factory in Germany....
The Beatles might have played Hagstrom guitars and the German Rickenbacker bass until McCartney discovered Hofners (now made in New York) on their 2nd tour of the Commonwealth!
Everyone uses Bosch amps and has a Fender washing machine...although Geddy Lee uses Hoover amps!(they suck!)

Sorry guys I read too many Superman comics in the 60s!
( I blame that on the Beatles too because Paul had a copy of a Jimmy Olson comic on his piano in Help!)

Strangely enough in 1977 I actually had a Zannussi colour TV! (they are a massive Italian fridge and washing machine company)
Truth is stranger than fiction

Enjoy your parties guys...no alcohol abuse....by which I mean DONT SPLILL ANY!

Ha! I like it--a little revenge for Bart referring to us as "America Junior" on the Simpsons.

Happy South Canada Territory Day everyone! Don't forget to eat your poutine and drink your doughnut-flavoured Molsons! (Or should that be eat your Molson's-flavoured doughnuts?) And please, show your pride at the hockey game tonight by singing the national anthem "Take Off, Eh?" along with Celine and Geddy at the top of your lungs.

As a moron, I like the holiday.
We have a festival here in my town in the spring… a lot of folks who don’t like it leave town for the weekend….maybe a vacation is in order – Canada is nice this time of year…. :)

Sean, tI think that England stuff was a long time ago.... we're all buds now!.. :D

Bring us a wheelbarrow full of your funny-looking green bills and we'll give you a medium Tim Horton's coffee. Just don't expect to actually talk to any Canadians while you're up here: we're all far too busy ordering things on the Internet while our petroleum-backed dollar (temporarily) kicks ***! It's the 70s all over again, baby!
