My dad's band plays once a year. Just out of curiosity, is there some kind of inexpensive recording device that I could figure out, bring to the gig, and use to record the band? (Possibly something to hook into the PA, if they exist...)

How about a mini disc recorder? Just a stereo recording, but not bad quality & easy to use.
