Really nice wood and finish on that bass. Too bad about that. :(
I'd go for it to restore it, if the price didn't go crazy, but with that feedback, I'll pass.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

"This is your lucky day"   He's right, lucky for me I'm not stuck with that thing. I like how the g string is on the wrong side of the tuner. Whatever that stuff is around and below the bridge looks crazy. Too bad, was probably very nice at one time.

Just makes me want to cry! :x When i got my 4001 some jerk put a kahler 300 Vibrato bridge on it !!! I replaced it with an original bridge and tailpiece from Rick. :D only issues now are some small holes need to be filled above the tailpiece. :? other than that Good To Go. :) He also replaced rick pups with the Rick Seymour Duncan's. :? They sound great :P I may one day restore these to Ricks as well.

Oookay..... I really liked this line:

"If your looking for a one of a kind "Ricky" here it is, ..." Ain't that the truth!

The mystery material looks like a rubber membrane or thin pliable plastic as it is rolled up at the edges, and covers god-knows-what kind of a wood "insert". Otherwise, very nice figured maple.

The mystery material is closed-cell polyethylene foam plastic, from what I can tell. It cuts with scissors, thus making it a friendly material to cover whatever hack lies underneath.

The seller, "musician's best friend" (I always thought it was a sense of humor until seeing this destroyed mine temporarily), sure can sling the BS. To wit:

"This is YOUR LUCKY DAY! You just stumbled upon one of the most hard to find bass guitars ever!

This Rickenbacker is a strange one, it still plays very well, but it looks as if it was someones project and is not 100% original, it has EMG J Style Pickups. Also looks to have some custom wiring done to it, none the less it plays great and sounds amazing. It does not sound like a original Rickenbacker at all, however, but if your not in love with the tone, just buy the stock parts and bring it back to factory specs! its that easy!

"

Puh-leeze.
