Rock and Roll Trivia
Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Evan: A guy who we know for writing a couple of tunes, John Lennon perhaps?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Absolutely correct Peter! Wouldn't we all love to achieve just a fraction of what John managed in his fabulous, chaotic, and tragically shortened life?admin wrote:Evan: A guy who we know for writing a couple of tunes, John Lennon perhaps?

Mick Abrahams left Jethro Tull to form another band in 1968. What was the new band called?

1) Identify the correct number.
Pete Townshend paid
a) £197
b) £172
c) £169
For his first Rickenbacker 1998.
2) Identify precisely what was "different" about this guitar as was readily apparent when he first started using it in The High Numbers?

Here's a good one, in 3 parts:
During the recording of My Generation, Entwistle went through a number of basses: what kind, how many, and what wound up on the record?

Without looking it up:
1) Danelectros - there is footage of him using a Longhorn live... He loved the factory strings.
2) I'm very shaky on how many - I believe 3....
3) A Fender Jazz bass was used for the final take.

Well done. Yes, it was 3. He kept snapping the strings and was so set on doing the song with one that he bought 3 of them.antipodean wrote:Without looking it up:

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
I got lucky on that last one...but I guess I get to spin the wheel this time....
A "who am I" of a different hue:
Two musicians - one a guitarist/songwriter for a band with a list of hits in the '90s on both sides of the Atlantic, the other a famous and flamboyant sideman who backed one of the greatest hits machines of all time, was part of a very theatrical (and eyebrow-raising) "band" in the '70s, has a huge discography and deserves the over-used phrase "icon" as much as anyone I can think of....
Apart from their status as musicians, they have something in common - both had UK top 10 hits as vocalists in 99/00 in collaboration with two different UK dance acts.
Both hits were remarkable for their stunning award-winning videos.
Can you name the musicians, the dance acts and the hits?

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Either this was too hard or I've "jumped the shark" (I thought I did that in '87)..
Hints:
The Guitarist is from the UK.
The other musician is a US bass player.

Re: Rock and Roll Trivia
Speaking of Jethro Tull, what recently deceased newscaster was good friends with Ian Anderson?
