Finally got around to taking a picture of my three July babies....

My 360/12 WB, which is 20 years old this month, my 1967 365, which just turned 41, and my 1997, which was manufactured in the same year as its model number. I was really nervous to take this lovely trio outside for the photo shoot!

My story was a matter of timing. I have always wanted a Rick 4001 ever since the first sounds of Chris Squire and his awesome playing on Fragile, Roundabout in particular. At the time I was a young lad playing a forty dollar japanese bass. When I came upon an old Gibson EB3 1962 for $150 bucks, kept it for many years until that faithful day in 1990 when a local music store said he was looking for an EB3 to finish his collection of Gibson EB basses. So I traded him staright up for my 1982 4001MG with BT. I was in love with this bass. The previous owner had some custom work done on it. one thing in particular was a 300 series Khaler vibrato bridge which I hated, so I switch it back to a Rick bridge & tailpiece. But I soon realized that this bass was originally a true MG with white Binding, white pickguard and chrome trim. But I liked the black on Maple look. I am considering going back to the original looks some where down the line. However, Many people at gigs complimented me on the look of my 4001 and the sound of it's seymour duncan pups as well which I also like. If I still had my 62 EB3 I could sell it and buy 2 new 4003's. But I will never regret trading in that bass for my Rick. My rick has its 26 year old birthday this month.

OK, I made it's still July. This is the one which started its life in July of ‘93 as a 4 string. With the help of Dane Wilder, It had a little going over last winter by luthier extraordinaire Bruce Johnson and now it is one awesome sounding 8 string! The 4004L8 for your approval:
