Last night's gig - lots of Ricks onstage...

Post by sloop_john_b »

...but none played by me! With no 6-string Rick in my arsenal at the moment, I've had no choice but to...explore "other" guitars...How weird is that?

Image

That's me on my '62 ES-125, and Tom on my v68, playing my rig as well. I'd say he's due for his own stuff by now.

And here's AJ, who is usually on mandolin but picks up his (used to be my) stripped 650C for a song or two.

Full band shot, for good measure.

Why is it that when you're in a band everyone gets to play your guitars more than you do yourself?

I've now got a 330/6, 360/12 and a Gretsch anniversary and a vox AC30, but at the moment I'm lucky if i get to play my old Takamine electro acoustic straight through the PA system.....

Time to go solo methinks. :)

Well, it's not exactly fun bringing so many guitars to a gig, but I really don't mind since I know the players are going to sound and look the part!

Cool pics, John. I know what it's like to schlep 4 or 5 guitars, a rig and other gear to a gig.
Your band mates should have their own gear.
Will there be a Rick 6 string in the near future for you? Maybe this weekend?
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Thanks Joey! It's not really like they don't have their own stuff. The bass player just sold his only bass - a Stingray - in order to get something more suitable for the kind of music we're playing (Probably a Precision, though he'd get a Rick if he could find an affordable one). So he's just in an in-between phase right now. I know he doesn't mind playing the v68, though. :)

A new Rick 6'er this weekend in King of Prussia? I really, really hope not. :? :(

Guitar show tomorrow, John. If by "my end of PA" you mean a point as far away from your house as possible and still be in PA, then yes. Otherwise no, just outside of Philly (Valley Forge).

Thanks Todd. I was confusing Grove City with King of Prussia. BIG difference in distance and time to drive!

You going, Todd? I'm bringing a friend (mandolin player seen above) and meeting up with Dave and John Simmons (and Chris Clayton, of course).

Very cool pics, John! I'm surprised you don't have a 6-string Ric at the moment. I don't, either, so I know how you feel when you want it, but just don't got it.

Is the v68 a P.W. or D.F. creation?
