The Who back on tour this year

Post by lennon211 »

I got an email from theWho.com today that they are going back out on tour later this year. The opening dates are in L.A. and more to be announced. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the heads up, Matthew. The tour should coincide with my next visit to the States. :D

I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and pay the big bucks for good seats (if I can get them). With the Yes tour being canceled, I've got to see at least one good, big show this year. This should do.

Well, half of the Who anyway...I did see them in 96 and on the Tommy tour but I won't go see them without Entwistle. Nothing against Pino....just....aint right.

Never seen them at all, and probably won't without The Ox.

I doubt that there will be ANY Ric action on their tour. Pete's been using the Eric Clapton Strat and his own signature Gibson J-200 on tour from what I've read and have been told. He does own a RM1993 refinished in jetglo, and I hope he's got at least a reissue of a 1997 or 1998, if not an original. The cover of the '89 live album "Join Together" features a smashed 360/12V64.

Well, I saw them on the tour right after they lost Entwistle. It was a bit contrived when they had Pino flub the My Generation solo. I'll probably still go see them though, as my better half hasn't and I'd like to take her, as she's a Who fan too.

He's actually got a couple of them, including one of the nicest all original 1993's I've ever seen. Some 1998's as well, he said he felt bad about the old days.

Cheers,

I didn't write this....Jake must have, but I have no idea what Pete has and doesn't have.

Someone got them backwards, man. I was quoting you in that post, and someone got us mixed up.

Was watching the "Classic Albums: Who's Next" special on VH1 Classic. Saw a 360/12V64 and either an original 1998 or a 1997SPC VB (with the handle removed).

Surprising to see he does have a few surviving Rics. Glad to see he doesn't take them out on the road. Read about an incident on "Top of the Pops" where he didn't know what the heck he was doing, and ending up smashing his '59 Gretsch 6120 as well as wrecked Keith's drums, and got into a fist-fight with the producer. Of course, he realized his folly, got it fixed, and (to my knowledge) never gigged with it again.

Yep! Petes still a turnip!
Instead of smashing it, why not just give it to some poor guy or gal that can't afford one!
It's not showmanship, it's just stupid....... :x

Either Pete's a lot stronger now, or the modern Strats smash a lot easier...
