350V63 Headstock Question

Post by godber »

The latest 350V63's seem to be sporting the new slim 60's style headstock, but did they used to have the larger "paddle" type?

No, that's the way they've been made from the start-the slim headstock is the vintage profile headstock.

Sorry, these are the images which prompted my question - it may be the TRC or the photo angle, but the headstock shape and the aligment of the tuners looks different. See what you think -

Yup id say the new 08 model looks to have more of a curve on the topside (the E A D).Im basing this on the photo tho! but it certainly looks different!

Looks different to me. Perhaps the vintage TRC implied a vintage shape previously, whereas this was not the case.

The final shaping is done by hand so they will all be slightly different. Mine is a 2001 and it is closer to the bottom picture.

Bad angle.

The headstocks before the CNC reprogramming were probably based on the later 325v63/the 325c64, and have always been slimmer.

It's possible that RIC changed them all to the same slimness when they reprogrammed the CNC routers.

EDIT: After seeing some '07s, I think maybe that was a big-headed year for some reason!??!
