2050 Rats! They had to remove the frets!

I've been watching for a 2050 and one pops up with the original knobs missing and a defret job! Why can't people leave these basses alone?!? Say, is that the original bridge?

If you refret a Ric, aren't there some issues regarding the finish on the fretboard?
