Tony, Tony, Tony, too nice to rape it!! Watch for an Electro Model 100 or such.
Re: Dag! Check Out The Shape!
A very rare Model 206. This is the first one I've seen on Ebay or anywhere.
Re: Dag! Check Out The Shape!
stunner!
i wish we could refrain from using the word "rape" though - "scavenge" maybe?

It will not be "raped", "harvested", "cannibalized" or otherwise treated badly.

On one so rare and nice it would be rape.brycycle wrote:stunner!

Paul, you or a bandmate? It went for only $40.51 more than I paid for a '62 Electro 100.... So far I am having fun trying to make it sound like it should! I also think laps really need a tube amp.

Me. And it was only about $100.00 more than my equally-mint Model 102 cost me 18 months ago. The market is spongy as heck.

Re: Dag! Check Out The Shape!
A beaut! My 102's MG.
The double neck console that's the subject of this thread, is undergoing a thorough cleaning and wiring check. As usual, disassembly reveals some ingenious ideas in the construction of this gem. I'm pegging it as a '57, based on case and construction details, specifically the blank jackplate, the selector switches---Bakelite-cased, like early Combo switches---and combo-type knurled chrome plated knobs, among other details).
But I'm not sure about the 206 designation...could it be a 706? There is no brightwork trim around the periphery.

Paul,
You could well be correct about the model. It could be a 706.
The 206 has a 22.5" scale length, while the 706 scale length is 25".
The 706 was supposed to have had 2 knobs/neck.
All these consoles were made concurrently and the specs. for them varied.
What is the scale length of your console?
