Post by Chris P »

Hi guys,

I see everybody's introducing themselves, so I'll do the same.

My name is Chris P. and some years ago I was a member here. I thought it was time to rejoin. BertH is always talking about you guys, so I want to be part of the fun!

I'm from the Netherlands and I play mostly Gibson basses and an odd Burns now and then. At the moment i have two Rickies which I adore. A mapleglo '76 3000 with black guard and a '74 mapleglo 4005WB. I used to have three more: A cream black '76 3000, a jetglo '76 3001 (black guard too) and a '76 4001. All sold. I think I know a lot of you from he old times at TheDudePit and now the LastBassOutpost.

I work as editor for a Dutch Bass magazine (De Bassist) and I have a band called Boilersuit. I live with a guitar playing girlfriend (no Rickies unfortunately) and two cats: Booker T. and Curtis. The last one is JAEs reincarnation.

Welcome (back) Chris. It's a pity Boilersuit doesn't use Rick's that much. A 360/12 and a 400[135] would suit your music very good. Or maybe you should buy Loes the Susanna Hoffs signature model.

I subscribed to your magazine from nr. 1 and think it is a great Magazine. Maybe even the best Dutch Bass magazine there is!!

Berth!

Loes has a jangly sound and I often say she has to buy a Ricky. A Susanna Hoffs signature would be the bmb of course:)

Our magazine is the only Dutch bass mag so we're the best by far!! :D

Thanks guys!

John, your 4005WB is just too much! Great! It'll sure be discussed here but what about the enlarged pickguard?

Chris, the bass is due back to me very soon and I'll probably start a thread about its restoration - but the big pickguard was hiding separation of the body wings, which has been fixed. The two additional screw holes will be filled and a new pickguard will be cut, based on a tracing from another April '66 4005WB guard.

Welcome again, Chris.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
