Don't read this thread if you are Rick-sensitive!

Post by antipodean »

Perusing one of my favourite Tokyo online retailers, I found this abomination made by Killer Guitars which looks like the devil spawn of a southpaw 4003 and an Ibanez Iceman.

and another:

Has anyone come across these before? Have they no shame? Would this constitute a breach of trademark?

They have no shame, clearly. Don't know the difficulties enforcing trademark (think I got that right!) in Japan, but considering that previous Japanese clones are considered "lawsuit basses" maybe it's easier to clamp down on this in the far east.

But is it black enough?

If you're serious, the black one is at Kurosawa, who ship to the USA and have an English-speaking desk.

http://www.kurosawagakki.com/items/detail/13815.html

BTW - the details are on the link page - it's long scale and has an alder body with maple neck. At JPY 70,000 it's not expensive.

I'm kind of surprised by the amount of positive feedback - or am I just misreading the irony? :?

The headstock is ugly and as I thought it would be very neck heavy, the body is pretty though, as any ahem.. Ric shaped body is.
