1963 Danelectro Pro-1

Post by octagon »

This had been one of the guitars in my "ebay search" list for about 4 years. They turn up sometimes but not that often and usually they go for more than I want to spend. This one was notable because it is all original(original case too) and came from the original owner. I paid $625 for it which seems like alot but what the heck.I think Jet Screamer played one of these on his 2062 recording of "EEP-OP-ORK-AH-AH" which he made after his trip to Neptune.

Oh wait I think it was actually Beck who played that guitar on that recording.

That was just before he had his head cryogenically frozen.

Super cool. Only about twice the price of a reissue to boot!

Exactly the opposite of the split pea soup that provided its color inspiration, Mitch!

How short is it? is it 22+" or extreme like the 320 and 325: 20+"? Either way I'd use whatever strings I like but go up in guage a notch, i.e. If you like 11's go to 12's. I love the short scale and have had a few through the years. They can take some getting used to after, say, a Fender (25+"). Have fun; I'm jealous

Looks pretty darn short to me. Proportionally, it looks pretty close to a 325.

Thanks for the posts. The measurement from nut to the bridge is 23.5 inches,so it is not super short.

The shape of the body deceives the eye.

Hmmm, all body and not much neck. Reminds me of some rugby-playing friends..... :D
