Right on, I thought of both of those fellows while making my list. Rod's voice was made for Jeff's guitar work!!!

I'd tagged Little Richard early on. How could he be forgotten?

No one has mentioned Paul Rodgers yet. I've always thought that he has one of the purest rock voices anywhere.

Also, I have recently done a deep dive on The Band again. I think Richard Manuel's voice is astounding in its ability to express emotion. I just can't get enough of it right now.

I said I would step back and let you guys add to the list but I felt I had to jump in at this point.

Now I am never one to complain when boundaries are stretched etc like Scotty did a bit earlier wandering off into a different genre for a brief interlude, but Grace Slick Evan? Grace is a woman (at least the last time I checked).   Time to break out those reading glasses mate.

This category is The Very Best Male Rock Vocalists. For those wondering about all of this, the female category in the best of series will occur after this one has run it's course.

I do have a number of other "best of" all planned, lined up and ready to go. Stay tuned.

I have to say this list is starting to get interesting. Keep 'em coming.

All these replies and only a passing reference to Mick Jagger?

He's the definition of rock vocals. Anyone who has sang rock songs at one point or other has tried to sound a bit like Jagger...try to sing "Brown Sugar" without basically imitating him.

My favs in no particular order:

Roger Daltrey
Mick Jagger
John Lennon
Rod Stewart
Joe Cocker
Robert Plant
Ray and Dave Davies harmonizing
Elvis Presley
Roy Orbison
Little Richard
Neil Young
Ian Anderson
Jon Anderson
Tom Petty
Paul McCartney

Sorry, never been impressed by Mick's vocals. I'll take Steven Tyler before Mick. His showmanship is there but feel it masks an average voice.
