This is in in reference to Iggy Pop recording China Girl for his album - The Idiot.

"China Girl", originally called "Borderline", was a tale of unrequited love inspired by Kuelan Nguyen, partner of French actor/singer Jacques Higelin, who was also recording at Château d'Hérouville at the time. The protagonist's "Shhh..." was a direct quote from Nguyen after Pop confessed his feelings for her one night."

In 1995, which singer was put on 18 months probation for firing a gun at two noisy teenagers?

EDIT:
This actually happened in France.this person got a suspended eight-month jail term and was also was ordered to pay $4,600 in court costs and damages to the family of one of the boys, who was hit in the legs with 11 pieces of metal shot. Also this person and ordered to seek psychological counseling .

one more clue.This person is dead! and recorded over 40 live and studio albums, the biggest body of this person`s work being released between 1958 and 1974.Any more and im giving it away.
