ebay woes
i have something to warn you people about. i have had ebay trasaction recently that was rather weird:
1) i bough rather expensive leica camera lens and i paid with the official check
2) the lens arrived and was ok, i left positive feedback
3) two weeks later i get unpaid item open dispute
4) seller doesn't communicate and i get unpaid item strike.
5) imho seller (either coplete idiot or) is trying to get final value fee back (- more likely)
6) i am trying to make ebay to remove the unpaid item strike..so far futile.
i know this is not about guitar but since i can see a lot of you bidding there on rics this can happen to you as well. especially with high price items it can be worth to some low life to try pull that one when the final value fee is couple hundred $$.

Re: ebay woes
Here's something just as bad from another point of view: As a SELLER, you are not allowed to leave negative feedback for deadbeat buyers anymore. So, if someone buys your item and doesn't pay you, it's not permissable to warn other sellers that your so-called customer never came through with payment. Lots of bad ideas going on over there...!
Re: ebay woes
What Leica lens did you buy? Do you have an M or R series? It may not be a guitar but I certainly am interested in cameras and Leicas!
Re: ebay woes
jeff: i am rangefinder nutcase so it is m or old ltm i am buying. shame on me for going more digital - i use them a lot on my epson rd1 mostly, i am looking into m8 now. i still have m3 and share m6 and ltm with my dad when i am in europe. this one was 12mm voigtlander/cv. it is lovely wide. i coudn't resist @ $500 - to me that is still bit costly..considering i don't make money with it...
the good news is that i was able to proof via fax of the official check receipt about hour ago that i paid for that lens and ebay took the unpaid strike off my account.
and yes it sucks that seller can't leave negative. it is just another idiotic improvement ebay came up with. i think it has something to do with people not being good communicators and leaving negative left and right instead of talking things over..

Re: ebay woes
I have had the pleasure of playing with a great many vintage, special, commemorative and just plain all kinds of Leicas over the years. I used to own two CLs; some friends of mine have M6s and one has an M8 that I have played with a bit. He has pretty much every modern Leica lens including such gems as a 50 Noctilux!

Sorry, Digital SLR dude here
Anyways - For that reason I always pay with paypal, this way my money is safe, I had an occasion where a seller (with a very good reputation) simply stopped answering after she got the money, and the goods never arrived.
1 Small letter to paypal, they tried contacting her and when they got no reply - I got my money back.
Easy and efficient (even though I know they can be annoying).

So long and thanks for all the fish!
Re: ebay woes
oh yes cl was great camera. i used to own one too than the metering went and it went from there downhill. i wish m8 was *that* size. i've red some rumours that m9 is supposed to be digital cl so the hope is still alive.
the reason i opted for epson rd1 instead of m8 was that it feels more like film leica than m8. the only drawback of this epson/cosina is 28-35-50 veiwfinder only so for anything else you need extra viewfinder for framing or good guess but well i use mostly 28mm anyway which comes to like 42mm with that 1.5x crop - typical woe of digital photo for people being used to full frame on rangefinder camera. it would be perfect match for tri-elmar 28-35-50 but again that is only f4 and they discontinued it on top of that. i hope they will improve it once to like f2...that would be perfect lens for me. i could do all with three lenses 12mm, tri-elmar, and 90mm. oh what a dream.

yes but that is rather limiting. i always pay with paypal when it is available. but this was not non-delivery problem, and my money were safe. it was this weird attempt to get final value fee back from ebay ridding on my back. i have never encounter this before. i had people not delivering things etc.. that is typical, this was just really weird.
