I was offered $11,500 for mine ..... just after I sold it for a really good price!

Mine was a '67 fireglo, but was a professional refinish.....wish I hadn't sold it.

Thanks guys!!

'Count the money'

Sometimes I get tempted I must admit. Selling the 4005 means I could buy a nice 4003, a Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Bass and maybe a nice Fender for the small change left...;) But I never met someone who said selling the 4005 was the best thing he ever did. Only regrets....

DONT SELL!
Chris,Ive regretted selling Ricks for years.
Thats a really great looking 4005 you have and in my opinion the MG 4005 has the edge on the FG version.
It needs a bit of work on the binding but thats just an ongoing repair and on a 30 plus instrument its part of the running cost.
As mentioned earlier, just try and get it back to a stock instrument, check out the high end prices add a few bob and insure it for that figure.

I added a post on the Manni (Stone Roses) thread the other day.
I came across his (yet to be) 4005 in Manchester in the late 80s and but for being a bit short of money for £699 I could have scored a beauty, almost identical in all respects to Entwistles "Tommy" 4005.
Dont do the reverse and let go of a great "bird in the hand".

all the best,
Pete.

In all honesty  , JG has the edge on ALL of them, especially when it is double bound. 8) 8) 8)

I think I agree. Though I -having blue as favorite color- would like to see an AzureGlo too with double binding too.

I won't sell it, I'll just have to find money or a GBBJTB!

The GBBJTB is the best looking bass after the 4003! (IMHO)
