V series TRC lettering - fake?

Post by jdogric12 »

Hi gang. Lately we've seen some fake TRC's on the 'bay, and many of us have gotten pretty good at spotting the differences, thanks to the experts here who have generously shared their knowledge.

My question today is, do the vintage series TRC's letters have the same characteristics and telltale signs as raised letter TRC's? I bought a 381v69 at a store this weekend (it's on police hold until Aug 25th thanks to a local law) and it has the "Rirkenbarker" look to it. No bottom smoosh on the c's. And it looks a tad pixellated.

I got such a good deal on it, I don't care if it's fake, but I still want to know. I'll post pics on... Aug 25th! Thanks, JD

They have a "cooling off" period for buying guitars? Somebody's wife must be behind THAT!

I could use one of those vintage TRCs. Is anyone selling? :D
