So I went to see LA Guns last night. This was my 3rd time seeing them in about 5 years. This was also the worst I have seen them play. I'm a pretty big Guns fan, but last night put me off a bit. The guitarist and bassist were incredibly sloppy. Not in a drunk musician kind of way, but in a "we're not that good at what we do" kind of way. Phil Lewis was good, as he always is. Riley was Riley. I think his old age is finally catching up to him. To think he used to be in WASP.
It was a pretty weak crowd too. Saw a few of the usual suspects but overall there my have been 40 people there, maybe a bit more. Lame.
I did chuckle a bit when Phil was talking trash about the Tracii version of Guns playing in town next week. "There's only one singer of LA Guns. That other band sucks. Go see for yourself then write me and tell me how it was." The only difference is that the other version has a great guitar player.

The singer in Tracii's version is horrible.
He is consistently this bad.

I saw them once, I think it was in '90 at The Ritz in NYC. They were okay then.

Re: LA Guns last night
A friend of mine went to see one version of LA Guns a week or two ago.
She said they were her friends on Myspace (for what that is worth) and she sent a note to say the show was good.
She got an email back saying they were not the LA Guns she saw, she saw THE OTHER LA Guns. So now on her Myspace she has LA Guns as a friend, and The OFFICIAL LA Guns as another friend. Someone needs to file some kind of injunction here.

Re: LA Guns last night
Both Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis claim they have rights to the name and have been running separate bands for a few years now. I don't think either of them want to go to court over it, they just like having the public feud as it keeps both of their bands in rock gossip columns.
FWIW, I prefer the Phil lewis version.
