Hairline Cracks

Post by nov_1981 »

Anyone ever experience these cracks in the CV on the neck binding?
They're at almost ever fret on both sides of the neck.
Sorry for the big photo, I can't seem to figure out how to resize photo's.

Is this on your "07 AFG? Might be a warranty repair?
I don't know what causes this but it looks like the fret ends might have expanded into the binding, or the wood of the neck contracted?

Is the CV pulling away from the frets also? Looks like it when I zoom the picture. You have quite a bit of upbow on that neck, maybe that is contributing to both the end crackings and the CV separating by the frets.

I'm thinking this may have happened when I backed off the rods too quickly while straightening the neck (the old 4001 way). I'm pretty sure that the cracks are in the CV only.

Yes Steve its my AFG, Its been just over a year since purchase. I was hoping it was possible to try to sand these cracks out.
