Beggars Banquet

Post by dedicated_follower »

It was also forty years ago this month that there was a big debate between The Stones and Decca about the cover of the album. It's the one of a lavatory wall with slogans written on it.

It said terrible things like "John loves Yoko" and "Lyndon Loves Mao". Much a do about nothing me thinks. Decca were worried it would offend Americans!

My favorite Stones album, "Sympathy" kicks rear end as my alltime favorite Stones song! "Street Fighting Man" has got all kinds of energy, and "Stray Cat Blues" and "Jigsaw Puzzle" are very raw, underrated Stones songs.

A great album and quite remarkable as the Stones were in the middle of drug busts and other issues at the time...likely my favorite also with Let It Bleed and Aftermath a 1/2 step behind...

Depends which Americans they meant. The kids loved it.

Also my favorite Stones album. Satan, maracas, congas, the Watts Street Gospel Choir, Nicky Hopkins, Dave Mason and some killer harp from Brian. Yeah, man!
All I wanna do is rock!
