What amps are you folks using?

650D played straight into a Traynor YCV40 with the speaker upgraded to a NOS Celestion G12H80 like they made in the 70's (black powder coat finish), not like the new G12H30 which the YCV40 would most likely blow out. Genuine NOS Tung-Sol 5881 output tubes. It's definitely ear bleed territory now, will blow a Fender Deluxe Reverb away in volume with no problem, and works well as a bass practice rig, in spite of the open back cabinet. The new speaker gains you 3 dB at least, or the same as if you upgraded to 80 watt output, without the size and weight.
It's way too loud now to play in an apartment, or most houses, or maybe even a recording studio. I have a modified Marshall AVT20 hybrid amp for that (clean enough now that even my dad likes it for country music).

JWilli: A far as Rickenbackers go, I know of few others who are as amply equipped. Have you turned them up to 11 yet?

I am using one of the last 'Vox Cambridge 30 Reverb Twin' sold in Europe. I changed the tube and put a new old stock ECC83 british 'Mullard', made in the mid sixties. It´s a fabulous amp and a true 'Vox'. Many people said that there were some production problems on this model, but it seems that they were fixed before the first batches. Now, this amp is discontinued (since September last year) and, believe it or not, is becoming collectable!

I bought a brand new 50 watt dual 6L6 powered red sparkle tuck and roll vinyl Chinese Kustom head that I found on ebay for $300. Pure kitsch. I play it through a 4 x 12 loaded with Eminence 125's. Can anything of decent quality come from China? Well, I took delivery of my ultra expensive Powerbook G4 earlier this week, and guess where it's made? Thanks to the taxpayers of Colorado for my new Chniese toy! (not the amp...the computer:-).
Jeffrey: Time to upload a new sound byte for us. It would seem that you are well-oriented now.

I am currently playing through two amps at once:
1. Vox Cambridge 15 (fairly clean) -- out to a 12 inch cab. and
2. St.Louis Music V1215, all tube amp (set fairly dirty).
This set-up gives me 3 distinct sounds. I can hear each amp individually (including the jangle coming from the Vox) plus the unique sound of the combination of both amps. It's really quite cool. I am not using a Ric-O-Sound box, though. Just an A/B/Y switch.

I find the THD Hot Plate to be very effective.
