Back From The Dark Side
Our apology for the down time today everyone. This was a hardware problem that took more than 10 hours to resolve. More on this later.

It gave me a chance to actually get something done around here!

Actually, the downtime was 13.5 hours...
Same "network problems" with our segment.
The first 8 hours were "we can't access your server and we can't reboot it, I have contacted the local admins to try and fix it".
After I nagged them every hour I got a new reply - "There is a problem with the whole segment in which your server is hosted" (sounds familiar?).
After 11 hours I decided that enough is enough and called them again, asking for a manager to make my server's problem go away, I don't care how.
So they moved the server to a working segment...
The dedicated server support person was actually very nice and tried to help, but as in whole, their downtimes are unacceptable.
Don't worry - we are moving, sooner than your think...
