Good grief Scotty, have you seen the prices of Lambrettas over here? Wish I still had all the ones I used to, I could pay off my house. Couldn't ride them here though, as I would probably hit a deer

Also, check out the price of real parkas on ebay, like a 150 bucks and up, without the liner and those awful fake fur trimmed hoods.Being a Mod really costs a wad these days, and we haven't even touched on the clothes. Oh well, so much for that option for a midlife crises

The package came in, I listened and here it is, my BIG list:

Top 10 Who Songs:

1. Won’t Get Fooled Again
2. My Generation
3. A Quick One While He’s Away
4. I Can See for Miles
5. My Wife
6. Pinball Wizard
7. I Can’t Explain
8. Baba O’Riley
9. 5:15
10. Who Are You

Honorable mention:

See Me, Feel Me
Magic Bus
Behind Blue Eyes
The Good’s Gone
The Real Me

Best covers:

Summertime Blues
Baby Don’t You Do It
Bald Headed Woman
Daddy Rolling Stone
Heat Wave

Top 5 albums:

1. Who’s Next
2. The Who Sings My Generation
3. A Quick One
4. The Who Sell Out
5. Tommy

The Who truly are a great band, and despite how they coldly continued on without showing any remorse for John Entwistle and added Kenney Jones in trying to replace Keith, they won't be known to me as the Roger/Pete/Zak/Pino/Rabbit/Simon band, they'll always be remembered as Roger/Pete/John/Keith to me. I don't know if I will buy "Face Dances", "It's Hard" or even "Endless Wire". I'm buying 30 Years of Maximum R&B, for sure, though.

The Who rock on, and the original line up always will.

Jake, it's very cool your getting into The Who.

I think "Love, Rein O'er Me" (sp?) is Brilliant Opera. Regal.

"Love, Reign O'er Me" is a great one, too. Believe me, it was either that or "See Me, Feel Me". I guess I'm just more partial to "Tommy"

Zoot suit, white jacket with side vents 5 inches long
I'm out on the street again, and I'm leaping along
Just right for a beach fight, but I just can't explain
Why this uncertain feeling is still here in my brain

Definitely one of their best off of one of their best albums Scotty! :D

I'm coming down
Got home on the very first train from town.
My dad just left for work
He wasn't talking.
It's all a game,
'Cos inside I'm just the same,
My fried egg makes me sick
First thing in the morning.Radio cuts in to say that mods and rockers are fighting in the Grand hotel,Kettle whistles. Sheer class!

"Cut My Hair" is truly a mod song. I love it!

While I'm thinking about it, "Boris the Spider", "Whiskey Man", "Run, Run, Run", "A Legal Matter", "Going Mobile", "Getting in Tune" and "Mary Anne With the Shaky Hand" are cool Who tunes, too. Don't know why they weren't on my list. :P

Quadrophenia was the soundtrack to my life, and i lived and breathed every word, minus most of the mod trappings..I played in a lot of bands and tried to emulate my heroes..i never quite got a grip on controlling the real anger, and once actually talked to Pete about this at a show.I complained that i felt sometimes unable to express myself through my songs, and he told me about 'guitar and pen', and said here, take the guitar and play.. HIS guitar...and i couldn't, i play lefty!! sob!..

This happened backstage in Buffalo NY, when the Clash opened up for them..

What a bummer!

I have had the opportunity to play the basses of a couple of my favorite bassists, Percy Jones and Gary Willis. :D

I'm one of the original American Who fans. I saw them on Shindig in '65 and knew immediately that they were going to be huge. I started telling everyone about "this new band from England that uses feedback and smashes up their gear," and people just shrugged their shoulders. It took four years until they broke big with Tommy, but I have been vindicated many times over.

I still have the left half of a Fiesta Red Telecaster that Townshend smashed in Asbury Park in 1967 hanging on my wall.

I can't imagine Pete and Roger would agree with this assessment. By all accounts I've read, they were heartbroken when Entwistle passed...they chose to go on, believing John would be all for it.. Think of how many people they would let down if they quit, how many people would lose a lot of money, not just them. They sure don't sound cold when they talk about him. They've also said many times that Moon was irreplaceable...but why fold the band entirely?

Sorry, not really wanting to be argumentative, but they seem to take a lot of hits concerning their hearts, and I have a much harder time judging them that way. I think it's just as possible that either one of them would walk through fire to bring Johhn or Keith back. Who knows?

I saw a TV program recently that interviewed both Roger and Pete and discussed their reasons for carrying on. Both Roger and Pete came close to tears as they seperately discussed John and Keith. They were full of compliments for both of their deceased bandmates and they acknowledged that Keith never could be replaced and wondered out loud how they could possibly carry on without John since he was one of a kind. But they resolved to keep playing because that's what they do and they enjoy it.

I am paraphrasing what they said of course but both of them miss their departed friends and bandmates. They said the experience has brought them closer together. Roger and Pete disclosed that they were not the best of friends at all times in the past and in fact had one or two fist fights, but losing John made them realise that they had more in common than they had differences.
