A Father's Tale

Post by rickosound »

Our deck needed to be replaced. Like all homeowners, we put it off for a while, but this summer, we decided to do it. My son is almost 15 and I thought this needed to be an outdoor venue for guitar playing. Here in Missouri, through brutal summer and miserable winter, you can use a deck about 5 months out of the year.

The work was done last month, and the furniture arrived yesterday. We had "built in" benches constructed to accommodate an outdoor jam session. We attempted one tonight, but the mosquitos drove us away. Here's a photo.

Build whatever you want. Accomodate guitar playing! 8)

Now you just need mosquito netting and bug zappers.

Great post Tom! It is so great you and your son can share a love of music and of Ricks. Nice looking deck too! Last summer was my year to refinish the deck and I put up a cabana-type cover as I cut down a couple trees and the sun got hot.

I hate being the providing end of the food chain.....

Absolutely! That picture says a lot...thanks for sharing it. I just dropped off my oldest son at College on Wednesday and miss him already.

John and Tom, with all three of mine gone the best Christmas present for me is when they all come home and we are together again. Best of times.
