What's up with the finish? I didn't know that fireglo(?) finish was available. Anyway it looks nice, and I see that Jared is lusting after it as well.

I too have been interested in a 4004 lately, but I believe, due to my playing styles I couldn't deal with the pickup right at the end of the fingerboard. That is a darn nice one and in my home state too.

I've been looking for a 4004Ci for a while, there was one here in town that sat in the shop for years, but at the time I wasn't interested in Rics. But no more basses for awhile, I just picked up a Blackstar, and it took a chunk out of my bass funds.

I think that John Hall had posted shortly after this year's NAMM show that the 4004 was available in all the standard colors as well as the overall translucent tints. There was a Fireglo 4004 at the NAMM show this year that caught my attention. Hmmm. Wonder if there was ever a Sea Green 4004? Now that would be sumpin'!

Here is a photo of the body.

The pickup on my 4005WB is right at the neck and does not get in my way, maybe I should get this one. It does look nice but I am not too hot on the maple fingerboard with the FG.

These basses are a lot better when wired volume, volume, tone ... then you can blend in the neck pickup at 5 to 9 range and run the bridge pickup at 10 ...

Sort of interesting .. a retro finish on a modern style bass ...

I read the post about the new basses, however this one dates to Nov '97.

I can't say I'm all that keen on the paint job on this one. The lower bout doesn't have the same burst as the rest of the body. It is interesting to see the old style body with that finish though.

Jared,
As our arab friends would say "Inshallah", ponder the thought and then it doesn't matter who bids.

I like the color, I like it a lot better than all the solid color 4004's I've seen, it would look better with a darker fingerboard though.

I think this bass is extremley cool. I wouldnt change a thing. Love the black nameplate with the fireglow, and the maple neck.
