Hockey Night In Canada theme - My Submission! help needed!

Post by tennis_nick »

Hello one and all, I hope this weekend finds you well!

As a result of the biggest &^#$%*^& of the year, CBC lost their Hockey Anthem, and are having a competition to find the next anthem...

You KNEW I had to get in on that!

I give you my entry, a rocking little number that kinda sounds like a Zeppelin ripoff but not really (cheekily called, Tungsten Airship).

http://anthemchallenge.cbc.ca/mediadeta ... 1&offset=1

I'd appreciate it if you'd register (takes a little minute) and rate/leave comments, seeing as how it's rating based, and I truly need the $100 000 dollars. I blew my last 100 grand on hookers and scratch & win lottery tickets... I THOUGHT IT WAS A SURE THING!!!

Now, if this is seen by 100 people, who in turn show it to 100 people... That's like a million people!!!! :D :D

Voting ends the 4th of October... so let's get the lead out!

Questions, comments, death threats, can be sent to me here on Facebook, or just tattoo your opinion on the side of your face, I'm sure I'll see it eventually.

Nick, that was fun! I'm curious, what pedals were you using for each of the guitar parts?

no pedals... Everything done on a Vox AD50VT and a magic SG! Buckers with coil split option.

First guitar you hear is the bridge pickup, split.

The 2nd is the bridge, humbucker mode,

then there are 4 other guitars running on different positions to thicken it up real good.

Mostly on the AC30TB model, but the last lead guitar is on the Dumble model (Boutique OD)

HOW did they lose their theme song?

I've got about 200 tapes of Hockey Night in Canada, I can dub one off and send it to them if they need a backup copy!

(sorry, it's late and I didn't listen to your version yet)

Long story short, the CBC couldn't negotiate a deal with the owners of the song and its rights were snapped up by TSN (our ESPN).

That's it in a nutshell. The owners of the song (the writers grandchildren) wanted a phenomenal amount of money. Unheard of for song rights.

Wow, is that going to be strange turning on HNIC every Saturday and not cranking that song up.
"Dun dun dun......dun dun DA DA....dun dun DUNdundundunDUNdundundundun...."

CBC almost let Ron McLean go over money a few years back. That would have been tragic. Wonder how much Grapes pulls down?
