New disease

Post by bassduke49 »

Most of you are familiar with GAS, standing for Guitar (or Gear) Aquisition Syndrome, but a new more specific strain of the inevitable disease has been isolated:

BASS -- standing for Bass Aquisition Satisfaction Syndrome. There is no cure for this insidious disease, and temporary relief is administered in expensive treatments, generally running between $500 and $3000 per. I, for one, am a sufferer, and I suspect many here form the core of a support group for the afflicted. I feel your pain.

Why does no one else understand this condition?

"But you already have x number of basses, why do you need another one? You can only play one at a time!"

I just ask my girlfriend: "Why do you need another pair of black shoes then?"
That usually ends the debate pretty quickly.

We need a support group.

How many do you need???? That was the most commonly asked question...or "Why can't you find one bass that does it all?" I always say, "Just one more!"
But if she can't understand that you have an affliction, she MIGHT not be the one for you! Image Speaking from experience here....

Just how many more Schneider and Rodenstock lenses does one need for their 4x5 camera? I "only" have from 58mm to 305mm, I still need that 38mm and the 500mm telephoto, oh yeah, there is always the ...

I do need an 8 string Rick and a V63 and a 4002 and a ...to go along with the 4 Ricks I already have.

Now let's not talk about amps!

I've had B*A*S*S for years. And Im happy to say its getting alot worse. And by the way, I thought I was the only poor schmuck that had to rationalize his spending. "but honey, its a Rickenbacker" do you have any idea of how much I could sell that on ebay for????? Thats a classic I think alot of us use.Image

I have it bad ... I own 13 basses ... and I am considering more ...

I will sometime convert a 4003 to a 5 string and another 4003 to an 8 string and I want a 4004CII5 and I'd like another 2000 series and and and and and ... well you get the idea ...
