Headless Rickenbacker Guitar?
There's never been such an instrument, right? I have a bet with a fellow who claims he had one. So please back me up here, guys, I'm ready for a cold one...

Funny, I came across this image yesterday and did a double take - Rick Derringer with
a Steinberger. It seems to be a one / two off. They do comment on the site that the
Ric legal team were in touch to ask them to stop doing it!
But they then go on to say that you can order them....

Well, at least they didn't copy the headstock design...

Re: Headless Rickenbacker Guitar?
That's possibly the first guitar design I've seen that has NOTHING right, NOTHING to recommend it to anyone.
God, that is FUGLY. My eyes hurt.

Re: Headless Rickenbacker Guitar?
Rickenbacker made a headless electric violin in the 1930s.
They are a remarkable, far ahead of their time design with a solid Bakelite body/neck (almost bodyless) with the tuners between the bridge and the chin rest and have no headstock - the minimalist design, the stringing arrangement, and the use of non-wood material pre-dates Steinberger by about fifty years.

But as far as I know they've never made a headless guitar or bass. The similar 1930s Electro Bass Viol had a conventional headstock although it also had a minimalist neck/body (metal not bakelite) and used the amplifier as the stand.

Pete Townsend had a couple of headless RICS.
